You can spend INR 80,000 to hire someone to explain to you why you don’t need to spend this money to buy the new iPhone 16, or you can save it and read this instead.
Every year, Apple decides to entice us with a new and upgraded version of its already existing products. Despite the upgrade being a slight colour change or a barely noticeable size difference, the gadget in our hands, which was once dear to us, suddenly starts feeling like the most basic version to ever exist. The thrill of using it goes away, and it starts feeling like a watered-down version that’s not cool anymore. While the new shiny version blinds our reality, the memes flood on cue giving us the reality check we need.
This includes those suggesting a spike in organ sales as people decide the kidney they want to sell. As a young adult trying to survive on instant noodles and life hacks, I can’t help but agree on how tempting the idea of owning a brand new iPhone is! But INR 80,000? Even a careless person like me knows that it’s too much to spend on something that will soon have another version. If I have that kind of money lying around, I could easily fund a mini-vacation or get a gym membership I’ll never use, and still have money left for snacks and survival! So as a gesture to be more responsible and control my urge, I decided to be logical and list all the things I could buy instead of the iPhone 16.
